Starbucks Names Brian Niccol as New CEO
Starbucks, facing slowing sales for its lattes and Frappuccinos, a slumping stock and agitation from activist investors, abruptly ousted its chief executive, replacing him with the chief executive of Chipotle Mexican Grill. Brian Niccol, who has held the top position at Chipotle since 2018, will take the helm of Starbucks in September.
Boeing Names Robert “Kelly” Ortberg as New CEO
Boeing announced Robert “Kelly” Ortberg, former CEO of supplier Rockwell Collins, will be its new CEO, replacing retiring Boeing CEO Dave Calhoun, who has been under fire for the company’s problems. Boeing named a new CEO after reporting a core operating loss of $1.4 billion in the second quarter — more than triple the loss from a year ago — as increased scrutiny of the safety and quality of its planes kept the troubled company from making enough aircraft to return to profitability.
Zillow Group Names Jeremy Wacksman as New CEO
Zillow Group named a new CEO, longtime company executive Jeremy Wacksman, announcing that co-founder and two-time CEO Rich Barton will be shifting to the new role of co-executive chair of the real estate media and technology company, joining co-founder Lloyd Frink in the role. Wacksman, with a background in both engineering and business, is a veteran of companies including Microsoft and Procter & Gamble who has been at Zillow Group for more than 15 years, serving in roles as chief marketing officer, president of the company’s flagship Zillow brand, and since early 2021 as its chief operating officer.
Party City Names Barry Litwin as New CEO
Party City Holdings Inc. has appointed Barry Litwin as its new president and CEO. Litwin, who previously led Global Industrial Company and Adorama, brings his wide range of experience in business growth and transformation.
Victoria’s Secret Names Hillary Super as New CEO
Victoria’s Secret is making a change at the top, naming Hillary Super from Savage X Fenty as its new chief executive. The chain has struggled with slowing sales and has worked on reinventing its fashions and redesigning stores. Super had served as the Savage X Fenty CEO since June 2023.
Nestle Names Laurent Freixe as New CEO
The Board of Directors of Nestlé has appointed Laurent Freixe, currently Executive Vice President and CEO Zone Latin America, as Chief Executive Officer of Nestlé S.A. Laurent Freixe joined Nestlé in France in 1986. Since then, he has continuously progressed within the company, assuming various positions of increasing responsibility across different businesses, markets and Zones.
Papa John’s Names Todd Penegor as New CEO
Papa John’s International announced Todd Penegor as its new president and chief executive officer. Penegor was most recently CEO of The Wendy’s Company. The release said he helped the burger chain grow sales and expand the company’s footprint to more than 7,000 restaurants worldwide. Penegor held previous global roles in both Kellogg Company and the Ford Motor Company.
Kate Spade Names Eva Erdmann as New CEO
Tapestry Inc. has appointed Eva Erdmann as CEO and brand president of Kate Spade. Erdmann, a former beauty executive, will be responsible for overseeing all facets of the luxury Apparel & Accessories brand, with a focus on improving innovation, consumer connections and sustainable global growth.
CCSA Names Olivia Powis as New CEO
Olivia Powis is set to become the new CEO of the Carbon Capture and Storage Association (CCSA) in mid-September. She currently holds the position of UK Director and has had a pivotal role in securing government support for the development of carbon capture in the country over the last several years.
Adventist HealthCare Names John Sackett as New CEO
John Sackett has been a key leader for Adventist HealthCare for years, and now he’s taking on the top role in the organization. Sackett is the new president and CEO of Adventist HealthCare.
